BALL CAPS

I don't have a picture  but, heck, you know what the Ticonderoga ball caps look like.  If you'd like one they are 12 dollars each and add 3 dollars if you want scrambled eggs.

Caps come as CV-14, CVA-14, CVS-14 and
CG-47.  Be sure to specify which one(s) you want.

These are the ones Felix Radleigh used to sell.  Ron Lee has taken over sales as part of the Ship's Store.

This  picture is a collage of 19 color pictures of the ship and includes the ship bumper sticker at commissioning and the crest in the bottom right corner. This 8” X 10” color picture is $5.00.

Peter K. Hsu – Artist & Naval Architect.
Combining the discipline of naval engineering with a talent for drawing, Mr. Peter K. Hsu began painting pictures of AEGIS ships for the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in 1987.  His drawings have become a prominent feature at the christening and commissioning ceremonies for most AEGIS Cruisers and Destroyers.

Peter was commissioned to capture the life of USS TICONDEROGA CG-47.  The drawing includes Fort Ticonderoga and the first 4 ships to bear the name TICONDEROGA.  It also shows two views of Wayne Meyer, the Father of AEGIS,  the USS NORTON SOUND, AVM-1 which was the test platform for the AEGIS program and buildings at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme, CA. (the In Service Engineering Agent for the AEGIS Weapon System). The drawing shows the ship crest, motto and dates of the Christening, Commissioning and Decommissioning.  And finally it shows the ship sponsor, Nancy Reagan breaking the bottle at the Christening ceremony.

This drawing is 18” high and 24” wide.  The cost is $20.00.

A print signed by Peter Hsu can be obtained for $30.00. (contact seller for more info)

Beige Ball Cap

The commemorative hats were made by Northstar Sportswear in Kingston, WA.  All hats have the same designs on them.  On the front left of the bill is CG-47 and on the back adjusting strap (which is done with Velcro) is also CG-47.  On the right side of the cap is the cruiser coming at you.  This is a really unique feature on the ball cap.  In the middle of the front of the cap is the gray 8 sided SPY Radar shield with the crest in the middle and the words FIRST AEGIS CRUISER.  At the top it says USS TICONDEROGA and below the shield it says FIRST AND FORMIDABLE.  On the left of the ship it says JAN 22 1983 and on the right of the shield it says SEP 30 2004.

The cap comes in 4 colors.  The standard navy blue (almost black) is one. The other 3 colors, charcoal, blue and tan come in a sanded twill material which has almost an imitation suede feel.  The blue is a dark blue(but not as black as the standard cap) and the charcoal is a gray cap.

All hats are $15.00.

POSTAL CACHETS

Three cachets were designed and printed to commemorate the Decommissioning. They are printed on legal sized envelopes which are 4 1/8" H and 9" long.

One Cachet has a picture on the left that measures 2" H and 4" long. It is the ship with the battle flag flying. It has the name and motto under the ship and the dates of commissioning and decommissioning to the right. On the back is a list of all the Commanding Officers and their dates of service.

Another Cachet has the 8 sided Radar Shield in Gray with the ship crest in the middle. Underneath it says Decomissioned Today.

The final Cachet Cachet has the 8 sided Radar Shield in Gray with the ship crest in the middle. Above the top three sides it says LAST DAY OF and below the bottom three sides it says U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. In addition to be the ship was commissioned it was also the last day of postal service.

All Cachets were cancelled on the ship on 30 September 2004. The ship cancellation has the AEGIS shield with CG-47 under the ship. In the killer bars to the right it says Decommissioned Today, USS TICONDEROGA CG-47, Sept. 30, 2004, FPO AA 34093-1158. Most of the stamps used for the ship cancellation is the USS CONSTELLATION Sailing ship stamp.

All Cachets have another cancellation in addition to the one from the ship. Half of the second cancellations are from the Post Office in Pascagoula, MS. The cancellation also used the AEGIS Shield with the Pascagoula Zip Code of 39567 under the ship. On the left side of the shield is the word PASCAGOULA going upward and on the right side is the word MISSISSIPPI going downward. In the killer bars to the right side says Decommissioning Station, September 30, 2004, USS TICONDEROGA CG-47. The National World War II stamp is used for this cancellation.

Half of the second cancellations are from the Post Office in Ticonderoga, NY. The cancellation has an outline of the ship and above it it says U.S.S. Ticonderoga, September 30, 2004 and Farewell Station 1983-2004. Below the ship it says Ticonderoga, NY 12883. The Korean War stamp or the Purple Heart stamp are used for this cancellation.

All Cachets are provided in a glassine envelope and are stuffed with the same insert that is provided with the coins. This insert card has a beautiful color picture of the ship with the battle flag flying and the crest and dates of commissioning and decommissioning on one side and on the back a black and white picture showing the ships characteristics.
